Our Culinary Philosophy

We believe Thai food is more than recipes. It is memory, culture, family, and community.

Every dish is prepared with respect for traditional Thai flavors while remaining approachable for our guests in Salt Lake City.

At Suan Wasatch Thai, our goal is not only to serve food, but to share a small part of Thailand’s culture and hospitality with our community.

Meet Our Chef

Chef Suphannika was born in Northeastern Thailand, a region deeply      rooted in the shared cultural traditions of Thailand and Laos. Her love for  cooking began in childhood while helping her father prepare meals for the  family with warmth, care, and generosity — memories that continue to  shape her approach to food today.

Passionate about language, culture, and lifelong learning, she earned a  degree in French from Khon Kaen University before receiving a joint  scholarship from the Thai and French governments to study French  language education (FLE) at Université Stendhal Grenoble 3 in France.  During her time in Europe, she developed a deep appreciation for European  cuisine and culinary culture, especially French and Spanish cooking.

Although she loved her career in education, Chef Suphannika never let  go of her passion for food. Dreaming of one day opening a small Thai  restaurant that could capture the warmth and comfort of meals shared in  Thailand, she continued her culinary journey by studying traditional Thai  cuisine at M.L. Puang Dinakara’s Thai Culinary Arts School.

After completing her culinary training, she gained hands-on experience  working in Thai restaurants in Salt Lake City, where she refined her skills and  deepened her understanding of hospitality and restaurant culture in the  United States.

For Chef Suphannika, cooking is not only about flavor, but also about  memory, comfort, and care. Through Suan Wasatch Thai, she hopes to share  authentic Thai flavors, heartfelt hospitality, and the comforting feeling of a  home-cooked meal — inspired by the dishes and memories of her childhood  in Thailand.
